The Gender Pay Gap
The tools you need to bridge the gap
Your Hard Work Discounted

Let’s talk about your paycheck. Not just what’s in it today, but what isn’t.
You show up, you deliver, and you lead. But for most women, the system has a built-in “tax” that starts on day one.
In 2024, the gender pay gap actually widened for the first time in two decades. Women working full-time now earn 81 cents for every dollar paid to a man.
The Compouding Gap
This “tax” isn’t applied equally. If you are a mother, a woman of color, or a person living with a disability, the gap widens. These intersecting identities create a compounding effect that can slash your earnings to as low as 50 to 60 cents on the dollar.

The Hidden Cost: It’s More Than a Paycheck
The gender pay gap doesn’t just hit your bank account, it follows you home. It’s a quiet thief that impacts every corner of your financial and professional life. When your base salary is lower, the “math of inequality” kicks in:
- The 401(k) Drain: Since most employer contributions are percentage-based, a lower salary means a smaller 401(k) match. Over decades, the gap in your retirement nest egg can be hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- The Compounding Loss: Every future raise, bonus, and Social Security benefit is calculated based on your current earnings. If you start behind, the system is designed to keep you there.
The Transparency Trap
Here is the frustrating reality: Paying men and women differently for the same work is illegal under the Equal Pay Act. However, while the law is clear, the measurement is not.
Companies often hide behind “proprietary” pay scales, vague “performance” metrics, and “shush” policies that discourage employees from discussing their wages. Without transparency, the law is a tool that’s nearly impossible to use.
